Review: Oh, the Places You'll Go

Title: Oh, the Places You'll Go
Author: Dr. Seuss
Genre: Children's Lit
My Rating:  ★★★★

In this joyous ode to life, Dr. Seuss addresses graduates of all ages, from nursery school to medical school, and gives them the get-up-and-go to move mountains with the unrivaled exuberance and charm that have made Dr. Seuss's books favorites for years.

I have often heard about Dr. Seuss but I never bothered picking up a copy of his pieces until today. And boy I’m glad I did! This is my first Dr. Seuss read and definitely not going to be my last.

Dr. Seuss summed up life no, living in this 44 pages book;the rosy dreams, the daunting risks, the unexpected twists and turns, the crushing falls because you can’t win it all. Yet there’s also how to get yourself back up dust yourself off. Life is a one roller coaster ride but while you’re at it, you can put your hands up and enjoy the drive.

The words are powerful and beautifully written. It’s philosophic yet undemanding and fun —not to mention the pictures (hey! Who doesn't love picture books?)that captures children and adult readers alike. Here's my favorite verse:

I'm afraid that some times
you'll play lonely games too.
Games you can't win
'cause you'll play against you.

All Alone!
Whether you like it or not,
Alone will be something
you'll be quite a lot.

Shoulders’ hunched, head down, and in need of something light that can cheer your low spirits up? Give this book a try and oh, the places you’ll go! I'll keep coming back to the pages myself. What can I say? I love this book to bits.

Now excuse me while I go cocoon myself more of Dr. Seuss’ work because to miss them is just plain wrong.

Scribbles and Smiles!
